Nowadays, people who want to
open a business should not only be a business man, but an entrepreneur. A
business man will only focus on profit, but for an entrepreneur, he will try to
expand his business with taking countable risks on himself. Besides that, an entrepreneur will always
innovative when doing any decision. It is really important to keep grow and
sustain in market.
In this study, the important
of the enhancement of entrepreneurial skills and personal qualities have been
understood by refer with the evidence of successful entrepreneurs. The
entrepreneurial traits that discussed in this study is networked, open risk
taker, observant, visionary, failure as an option, open culture, outcome
oriented, team oriented and proactive. One of the successful entrepreneurs, who
named Colonel Harland Sanders, has used to be the example of the
entrepreneurial trait which is failure is an option. His success has proven
that the failure is an option is important for an entrepreneur to learn from
the past and dealing with the failure. All the knowledge they learn from their
failure can make them easier to handling their business, until they approach
success in their life.
Besides that, one of the
successful entrepreneurs has been identify and analyzed embodied entrepreneurial
skills by the entrepreneur. The entrepreneur that has been chosen in this study
is Steve Jobs. A short biography shows his life time from childhood until the
day he died. Five of his entrepreneurial traits have been discussed in this
study too. Those are open risk taker, observant, visionary, team oriented, and
proactive. He is a proactive because he cannibalized iPod by creating a new
product, which is iPhone. He knew that if they don’t do this, the others will
do so. Therefore, it shows that he is a person who making the things happens,
without waiting the things happen on him.
In addition, people who want
to be a success entrepreneur should implant those entrepreneurial traits in
themselves. They can learn the knowledge from education area and refer with
another success entrepreneur. Entrepreneur is made, not born.
